DJs Vs. Equipment

What is it with DJ's and their constant tooting of DJ equipment? C'mmon, lets get real here. The only time a DJ relies on equipment as a form of selling their services is when they are ammateurs in the game. If you are considering hiring a DJ, PLEASE don't fall for this silly pitch.

Real DJs don't rely on selling the benifits of their equipment. They rely on the pure benifits of their reputation, experience and long list of references.

Equipment does not equal Great DJ.

I know DJs who have spent thousands of dollars on equipment only to end up sounding like they just walked out of Radio Shack. The truth is, equipment is only 1% and performance is 99% of the job. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that a DJ should walk in with a CD player and wires hanging all over the place...no! I'm saying that a great DJ knows the difference between the "Professional grade and the ammateur" type equipment needed for all jobs.

Moral of the story? Don't be sold on equipment. It's simply not realistic and you're asking for trouble.

Celebrity Death Toll - Billy Mays

What's the deal? First Ed McMahon then Farrah Fawcett then Michael Jackson and now....Billy Mays? Billy Mays was the famous pitchman for OxyClean and various other products. It's too bad. Recently, TV Land (I think that's the network) launched a new show called "Pitchmen" which included Mays. Now, he's gone.

What the heck is up man! Bizarre.

QUINCEANERA - MTV Reality Show

Last saturday was awesome! I had the pleasure of DJ-ing for a very well known group in Burbank. Over 400 people in attendance. This is hands down one of the best quinceaneras I've ever played at.

Watch out for this quinceanera on MTV. It's part of their new reality show "Quiero mis Quinces".

Remember, If you are planning a quinceanera in Los Angeles, Palm Springs, San Diego, Phoenix or Tucson, make sure you get Kid Corona.com. We will make it huge!

Michael Jackson

It's a sad day indeed. I grew up watching Michael Jackson on TV since I lived in Mexico. As a kid, i learned his dance moves and even learned his lyrics (without knowing English) and watched his videos over and over again.

To date, I still have 2 Michael jackson video tapes that I recorded during the summer of 87 and 88. MTV had done a Michael Jackson marathin and I consider that tape to be my most valuable MJ stuff.

I always believed he would live forever. It was a shock to me while at the gym to learn of his death. Such an iconic figure now gone. Regardless of his last years with his financial troubles and not to mention his personal troubles, He was still the greatest entertainer of all time.

To Michael Jackson, RIP.
